Sunset Sunday – The New York State Thruway Rest Area Sunset

When driving great distances, although be it infrequently, I often make a stop around sunset. No surprise, I take in the sunset wherever I can, especially when traveling.

Yes, this includes rest stops on a thruway, and isn’t that what we do when we watch a sunset? Don’t we all pause, rest and recharge?

I once heard there are no rest stops on the road of life. Those words stayed with me, but maybe there is a rest stop – the sunset.  On your next holiday I am sure you’ll look to rest, cocktail in hand and watch a sunset.  What if you enjoyed its beauty everyday and everywhere?  Yes, even on the New York State Thruway. Yes, even at a rest area.  It is what we are there for right? A little rest and a break from the road (of life) after all.

    I love the way you have the angle of the trucks here. The clouds are so pretty, too. One of my favorite sunsets was taken from a fast food restaurant in Ohio after pulling off for food. This pull-off was at the top of a hill and had a clear view of the highway below with the sunset in the distance. I actually wrote that sunset into a book.
