It was my first hike and fly expedition and the aim was simple to paraglide to Marmolada, Italy. I was accompanied by Jim Orava and Thomas Sloss–two crazy cool Canadians. We took off from a site just east of Tolmin, Slovenia. About 25 km down range the sky was looking ugly. With storms forming up ahead, behind us, and to our north, we were forced to top-land and set up camp on a mountain called Stol (1405 ASL).
I took the selfie above looking back from where we had came from, just as the sun dipped behind the ridge in front of us. It was funny to see that the rest of our group which had decided to fly back were getting rained on pretty hard–we got very lucky.
Then this was the sunset view looking west, the direction we would continue flying the next day as we continued towards Italy.
