Watching the New York City Fireworks at Ink 48

A  few years ago I watched the 4th of July fireworks on the Hudson River from Pier 66.  Impressive. New York City always puts on an inspiring and well choreographed display to celebrate America’s birthday.

Last year I received  an invitation to watch the fireworks in VIP fashion as a guest at one of my favorite hotels in Manhattan – Kimpton’s Ink 48. I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough.

The Hell’s Kitchen hotel, located a few blocks from Times Square along the Hudson River offers a rooftop option for paying guests to dine, drink and watch the top-notch display of fireworks. Last year as their guest I watched them from the rooftop suite. No complaints at all and I was not surprised when I learned it made USA Today’s list of Best Hotels to View the NYC fireworks.


As for the view, I provided a quick 30 second video from a time I watched inside the suite (I needed a refill). Enjoy it and enjoy your 4th of July wherever you are. Happy Birthday America.

    So sad that I’m under the midnight sun… no fireworks for me this year (can’t see them very well against a blazing sun.. or fog bank – we could have either). I’m happy to celebrate virtually though so I’ll look at your pics and ooh and ahhh with excitement. 😀

      I never really thought about how Alaskan folk celebrated the 4th of July, no fireworks, no night sky…. very odd. Glad I can help with a dose of NYC. Stay NYC, Craig

    The Kimpton’s Ink 48 is also my favorite hotel in NYC (I love that hotel) and a great location for viewing Manhattan any time of year. I can only imagine how it was to view the 4th of July fireworks. You took some beautiful pictures.

      Erin, yes, we did enjoy an evening on the rooftop…..a good time indeed. And next year the fireworks are back on the west side (I believe they decided to alternate years now; East River / Hudson River) ). So see you next year. Stay adventurous, Craig

    I tried to make our trip to New York this summer be over the July 4th weekend but it was too difficult to make happen. Was happy to enjoy the city in June, but one of these days I’m going to have this kind of experience. Amazing view.
