Kyrgyzstan is a small amazing country in Central Asia. In Kyrgyzstan, there are a lot of places where you can watch beautiful sunsets, but the most beautiful is on the southern coast of the Issyk-Kul (the second biggest alpine lake in the world). This coast of the lake has a special atmosphere, which is difficult to describe in words, it must be felt deeply.
Any sunset for me is one of the most fascinating natural phenomena. At the hour of any sunset at the Issyk-Kul, all incredible colors of clouds in the sky are reflected in the water, and a sun glade runs on it. When the sun sinks slowly to the horizon, it is no longer scorching and blinding as during the day, but gently warming with the warm vespertine rays. The nature stands still, the hum of cars and the hubbub of human voices nonexistent becoming quieter and quieter. The disc of the sun changes to a bright orange color and becomes larger as descends closer to the horizon. If the sky is cloudy, it changes to all the sunset colors possible – from bright yellow to tender purple. It’s amazing.
Sitting on the shore of a huge lake, surrounded by mountains, and seeing the sun off to meet it again tomorrow – it is a small miracle that can be repeated here every day. While watching a sunset, I often think over the things which are not paid attention during the day. During my life I have watched hundreds of sunsets at the Issyk-Kul, but even now I look forward to the day when I can go there again.
I love this place and really want to open it up to people; make more travelers know about Kyrgyzstan, want to visit our amazing country. Tomorrow, on December 7, 2015 we will start a campaign at Indiegogo (fundraising) platform in support of creation of the Home for Travelers on the southern coast of the Issyk-Kul. This is a unique idea, not only for our country but for entire Central Asia. Everyone can take part in its creation, learn more about the idea and how to support it here>
I hope that someday you and me will be sitting on the threshold of the Home for Travelers, which we would have created together, and watching a beautiful sunset on the Issyk-Kul.
Cheers, Andrei Oysanin
Andrei was born in Bishkek and from an early age been traveling throughout Kyrgyzstan. The mountains have always tempted him and he began to learn the routes of the Tien-Shan. After social work (eldery and orphans) he became engaged in the tourism sphere and arranged private tours in Kyrgyzstan. His goal is to help people to know the nature and culture of Kyrgyzstan.
