All visitors to La Paz, the capital city of Baja California Sur, take a seaside stroll along the malecon at some point.
A morning jog? An afternoon cerveza crawl? For lunch or dinner? Or perhaps to head to the pier to board for an excursions to visit sea lions, whales sharks or Isla Espiritu Santo? When in La Paz, visitors find themselves on the five kilometer boardwalk along the bay.
It remains one of the top attractions in this travel destination and one of the must-do activities in La Paz. And there may be no better time to appreciate the art sculptures designed to tell the tales of the seaport’s past legends, history and current residents than during the golden hour itself – sunset.
Luckily staying on the edge of the malecon, I was able to sneak out just minutes before the official sunset time and join fellow locals and tourists alike to appreciate the magic of the malecon at sunset. Living up to its translation, (La Paz translates to “peace”) the peaceful, moment passed in near silence as I watched the sun sink behind the official La Paz sign. From there it was time for my cervza crawl to begin and enjoy the rest of the colorful afterglow from a seaside bar.

Happy Sunset Sunday, Craig
I was a guest of La Paz tourism and fortunate enough to stay at Casa al Mar, just steps away from the images taken during this sunset Sunday moment.
