Waikiki Beach Sunset Sunday

After a morning surf and then Dukes actually on Sunday for lunch where I enjoyed their famous Mai Tais we headed back to the room to freshen up before sunset on the south shore.

After enjoying the music from the balcony with a view of surfers the time passed and soon we were return to the beach to watch the show of the setting sun on the sands of Waikiki. Not too far a walk from the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, there was an embankment with a better angle to watch the sun dip beyond the horizon over the ocean.

This would be my first Hawaiian sunset and a great way to celebrate my birthday the next day.

Dukes On Sunday

Of course, readers of the blog will know my passion for sunsets through the Sunset Sunday posts, but this was also special since it was the eve of my 50th birthday. The very reason the trip was booked was to visit my 50th state (Hawaii) before I turned 50 years old. I completed the travel bucket list item by saying Aloha to an Oahu Hawaiian Adventure.

My son and I headed down to watch the moment with many locals and tourists alike. It seemed the whole beach paused if not all of Waikiki to take in the moment.  I’m glad we shared it together and I’m glad we had another chance to experience more with a North Shore Sunset too.
