Each summer I journey northward to escape the sweltering summer of the Florida Keys and visit with family in the cooler climate of the Pocono Mountains. No such trip is complete without an evening at the Valley Country Club in Sugarloaf, to witness the sun’s descent over dinner with a view of the 18th green.

Some years on my annual visit I am fortunate enough to participate in a round of golf for a charity tournament benefiting the athletics of the esteemed MMI private school. This coming June, I believe I shall have another such opportunity. But whether I swing a club or just accept an invite for an evening to dine on the outdoor porch, the visit and sunset remain a cherished memory every year.
The sunset over the golf course coupled with the delectable cocktails, courteous service, and a well-curated menu all shared with family (and friends who are family) represents the epitome of my summer holiday. Yes when visiting this part of Pennsylvania, this is an annual must do.
