Puerto Vallarta seems to provide a spectacular sunset every night. Nearly every evening on my travels I’d find myself watching the magic from a beach, my hotel balcony, or sipping a cocktail somewhere. I’d also often be ready to capture and share the moment on the Sunset Sunday series. I’ve shared many.
Le Kliff also often shares its sunset images via social media too. Actually, it’s probably one of my most viewed sunset locations (via photographs) I’ve seen prior to actually seeing one with my own eyes. And thankfully that changed.
My social media savvy host, Carlos took me to Le Kliff as his guest. I joined him, his brother, and his daughter to make a table of four. His family owns and operates the restaurant and has created a fine dinning experience with a spectacular views. I can hardly describe the restaurant setting in words and actually it’s equal as challenging in photographs too. The structure is enormous and multiple levels with an incredible high straw “tiki” ceiling. It’s just an impressive edifice with an amazing view.
Often places with “views” rely on the view and don’t deliver the best from the kitchen. Not true for Le Kliff. The seafood was prepared perfectly and tasted both fresh and refreshing. For anyone staying in Puerto Vallarta, the twenty minute drive from downtown is worth it for the evening.
I also enjoyed our conversation. We discussed Mexican dishes, the history of the location, places with beautiful views, amazing sunsets, and the state of social media in Puerto Vallarta, we posted images on facebook, twitter, and instagram. And then when the sunset approached we walked around with our cameras to find the best view. My host, Carlos, and his daughter Karla, even took me even behind the yellow caution rope to find the perfect view (and image). There we exchanged cameras snapped images of each other with our friend the sun.
100 Sunset Sundays
In all the sunsets, I never shared an image of the sunset and me. I am usually the one behind the lens. But, I thought, after a 100 Sunset Sunday posts, (this is 100) it might be time to show my smile too. I do love them. Happy Sunset Sunday.
stay adventurous, Craig
I’d like to thanks Carlos Guzman and his family for a wonderful dinning experience and Le Kliff in Puerto Vallarta for hosting me. Also, this post is part of the 2012 Mexican March Madness Series.
